as a student in the technology academy at landstown; im put in honors english 11 in tenth grade. we had something called the "big read" when all the english 11 classes read the same book. well the teachers chose "their eyes were watching god". i didnt read the book. i tried but it was to hard, i just paid attention in class and asked questions when i wanted to know what happened. but i got the hang of it.

today in class we watched the movie. it had great actors such as halle berry and terrence howard. and oh my sweet jesus, michael ealy. mMm! he is beautiful. he played "tea cake" in the movie. since we didnt have a lot of time in class, we didnt watch a lot of it. we watched about half.

this is my favorite part so far.

i like this part because it shows that she can do whatever she pleases now. she has a different attitude towards things. its funny when she drinks after tea cake because it shows shes more adventitious then she used to be.

the teachers said that the book was better, but its always like that.

Police have charged the teen with 10 counts of Possession and Manufacturing Explosive Devices and one count of Intent to Commit a Terrorist Act.

"Specifically, in this case we're talking molotov cocktails and what would be termed as pipe bombs," says Commonwealth Attorney Harvey Bryant.

Police searched the home Monday night after receiving a call from a concerned citizen about threats to Landstown High School. Bryant says the teen has a history of run-ins with police and an above average interest in the Columbine massacre.

"Two years ago on the anniversary of Columbine he was charged with making a hoax that is a fake bomb device and was in juvenile court for that charge too."

Bryant says the probation in that case expired December, 2007. Faced with the upcoming anniversary of Columbine, Bryant says the teen will stay in juvenile detention.

"We're not going to take any threat to our schools, to our children anywhere in the community, adult or juvenile, who are preparing to explode or preparing to explode pipe bombs and molotov cocktails. It's extremely dangerous."

The teen will be back in court for a competency hearing April 28 to determine if he will be tried as an adult.

The following letter from Landstown's principal is posted on the school's website :

Dear Parents and Students,

As many of you have already seen the late night news, the early morning news, or this morning's newspaper, your attention was drawn to an incident surrounding one of our students. Late last night, one of our students was being questioned by the authorities for what appears to be a very serious incident involving the potential of explosives. I can tell you that sometime this weekend, a concerned parent, or community member, communicated with the local authorities his/her suspect of what is believed to be a threat against the school. From that conversation, and some quality investigative work by the authorities, a search warrant was executed on the home of the individual. To reiterate what has already been reported by the media, the devices were found in the home, and not in the school. Because this information was communicated directly to the authorities, there is very little, and limited information that has been released from the investigation thus far.

This morning, many rumors and speculations will most likely circulate throughout our classrooms, the school, and the entire community. I ask that you join me in calming those rumors and lead the charge of providing a safe environment. The following list is provided to help you:

1. Use this incident as a "teachable moment." Remind your child that discipline and safety are the responsibility of all of us. In this case, one voice made a huge difference by reporting a "gut hunch, or a known fact," to the authorities. Your child should be encouraged to report all potential wrongdoings to an authority figure, regardless if that figure is a parent, a teacher, a school administrator, or a law enforcement officer.
2. Listen to what your child is telling you. Read with a watchful eye his/her writings.
3. Investigate rumors, but do not entertain them. Stick to the facts! Speculation and useless dialogue will only cloud the investigation and increase the number of rumors being spread.
4. Know with whom your child associates, and get to know his/her parents.
5. Know what websites your child is viewing.
6. Know what information is being placed on your child’s MySpace account, Facebook, or Twitter site.
7. Inform school administration and the local authorities of any and all potential problems.

As a school, and an extraordinary community, we will use this incident to refine our current practices and policies so that together we can promote a safe environment. Thank you for your assistance and cooperation.
